Where and how is clear aligner treatment done in Ankara?
In Ankara, clear aligner treatment is carried out at Funda Sarıkaya Oral and Dental Health Polyclinic, located in Park Oran Ofis in the Oran neighborhood of the Çankaya district. Treatment is planned and monitored by Funda Pekyılmaz Sarıkaya, specialist orthodontist (Uzm. Dt.). Clear aligners are an orthodontic treatment method made up of thin, removable plastic appliances that move the teeth gradually. This page describes the steps a patient goes through at our clinic, from the first examination to the retention phase. Whether treatment is suitable for you, how many months it will take and how many aligners will be needed can only be determined after an examination and digital records.
What steps make up the clear aligner process at the clinic?
1. Orthodontic examination
At the first appointment, the orthodontist assesses your teeth, gums and jaw relationship. If necessary, a panoramic X-ray (a film showing all the teeth in a single image) and, where needed, a cephalometric film (a side film showing the relationship between the jaws and the skull) are requested. At this stage, if there are conditions that need to be addressed first, such as cavities, gum disease or missing teeth, the order of treatment is discussed. Whether clear aligners are suitable for your case is explained alongside options such as braces. For more detail, see our who are clear aligners suitable for page.
2. iTero digital scan and records
At the clinic, impressions of the teeth are taken with the iTero intraoral scanner. The scanner scans the inside of the mouth with a small camera tip and creates a three-dimensional digital model of the teeth. This method does not require traditional impression paste. In addition to the scan, intraoral and facial photographs are taken. The records are transferred to the software in which the treatment plan will be prepared.
3. Digital treatment plan
On the digital model, the orthodontist plans the target position of the teeth and the order of movements. In the Invisalign system, this plan is prepared in ClinCheck software. The plan specifies the positions of attachments (small composite bumps bonded to the teeth so the aligner can grip them better) and, if needed, the amount of IPR (millimetric enamel reduction between teeth to gain space). At the next appointment, the plan is reviewed with you on screen; the estimated number of aligners and treatment time are shared at this stage.
4. Aligner delivery
Once the aligners are made, an appointment is scheduled at the clinic to fit the first set. At this appointment, attachments are bonded if planned, the fit of the aligner is checked and the rules of use are explained: aligners are worn 20–22 hours a day and taken out only while eating and brushing. Hands-on instruction is given on putting them in and taking them out, cleaning and storage. For details on use, see our how to wear clear aligners guide.
5. Aligner changes and check-ups
Aligners are changed every 7–14 days according to the orthodontist's plan. Check-up appointments are usually every 6–10 weeks; at each check-up, the orthodontist assesses whether the teeth are progressing according to plan, and the next aligners are handed over. If an aligner does not fit or progress is behind the plan, an additional set of aligners (refinement) may be planned. For patients coming from outside the city, check-up intervals are arranged together with the orthodontist.
If, between check-ups, an aligner does not fit, an attachment comes off or an aligner breaks, you are asked to call the clinic without waiting for your appointment; most problems are solved by phone or with a short extra appointment. If procedures such as fillings or tartar cleaning are needed during treatment, they are planned with the orthodontist and fitted in at a suitable time. Common situations are described on our clear aligner problems page.
6. Retention
Treatment ends when the teeth reach their target position, but the tendency of the teeth to return to their old position continues. That is why a retainer is used; the general consensus is full-day wear in the initial period, then nighttime wear for life. Details are explained on our retainers after clear aligners page.
Which clear aligner system is used at the clinic?
At our clinic, clear aligner treatment is provided with the Invisalign system. Digital scanning is done with iTero, the plan is prepared in ClinCheck software and the entire treatment is monitored by an orthodontist. For details of the system, see our Invisalign treatment page.
Who is the orthodontist, and in which languages is care provided?
Treatment is carried out by Funda Pekyılmaz Sarıkaya, specialist orthodontist (Uzm. Dt.). She is an orthodontic specialist; clear aligner planning, attachment and IPR decisions, check-ups and the retention process are all followed by the specialist. Care at the clinic is provided in Turkish, English, German and Russian; patients who live abroad or do not speak Turkish can hear the examination findings and plan in their own language.
How is the cost of clear aligners determined in Ankara?
The cost of clear aligners varies with the complexity of the case, the planned number of aligners, the system chosen, the need for attachments and IPR, and whether additional aligner sets are needed. For this reason, the cost is given in writing after the examination and digital planning are completed. The Turkish Dental Association (Türk Dişhekimleri Birliği) has a minimum fee schedule; you can read about the factors that affect the cost in detail on our clear aligner prices page.
