How does someone living in Keçiören plan clear aligner treatment?
In clear aligner treatment, aligners are changed at home on the days set by the orthodontist (usually every 7–14 days); trips to the clinic are limited to checkups, which during the active phase usually take place every 6–10 weeks. For patients coming from Keçiören, the first step in planning is to book the first examination on a day when it does not need to be rushed, because many patients from this district already have fillings, crowns, bridges or implants, and these need to be included in the orthodontic plan.
Our clinic is in Çankaya Oran, at Park Oran Ofis on Kudüs Caddesi (next to Panora Mall, across from One Tower Mall). Coming from Keçiören, you pass through the city center and continue south toward Çankaya and Oran.
Can clear aligner treatment be done after age 40?
There is no upper age limit for orthodontic treatment. Teeth can be moved at any age; what matters is the health of the gums and the bone that supports the teeth. In adults, orthodontics often comes up not only for esthetics but also for the following reasons:
- Front teeth that have drifted forward or spread apart over the years,
- Neighboring teeth tipping into the space of an extracted tooth,
- The need to bring teeth into a suitable position before an implant or bridge,
- Crowded teeth becoming harder to clean.
If there is gum disease, it must first be treated and brought under control. You can find details on our Invisalign for older adults page.
Can I get aligners if I have crowns, implants or missing teeth?
In most cases yes, but the planning differs. On crowned and implant-supported teeth, the technique for bonding attachments (small bumps bonded to the teeth) may change; implants cannot be moved orthodontically, so the plan is built around the teeth surrounding them. If a tooth is missing, treatment is sometimes done to open the right space for an implant or bridge. In that case, the sequence is decided jointly by the orthodontist and the dentist who will carry out the prosthetic or implant treatment. On this topic, see our article on clear aligners with crowned and implant teeth and our clear aligners with missing teeth page.
What should you bring to the first examination?
For patients from Keçiören, what makes the assessment easiest is a record of previous treatments:
- Panoramic or other dental X-rays taken within the last year,
- Any information on implants, root canal treatment or prostheses (what was done on which tooth),
- A list of medications you take regularly; osteoporosis medications, blood thinners and diabetes treatment are especially important,
- If you have had orthodontic treatment before, when it was done and with which method.
If you have a chronic condition, the treatment plan is shaped accordingly; for a general framework, our orthodontics with chronic conditions page can guide you.
How does oral care change when wearing aligners as an adult?
Because the aligner covers the teeth, food debris left on the teeth while the aligner is in cannot be cleared by saliva. That is why brushing after every meal and cleaning between the teeth with an interdental brush or floss becomes important, especially for adults with crown and bridge margins. Those with a history of gum disease should not skip gum checkups during treatment. If you wear a removable denture, how to use the denture and aligner together is discussed separately at the examination.
Can a grandchild, child and grandmother come on the same day?
Multigenerational families are common in Keçiören, and sometimes a grandmother brings her grandchild along when she comes for her own checkup. If you tell us how many people will be coming when you book, we will try to schedule the examinations back to back. For children, a first orthodontic assessment is usually recommended at around age 7; this does not always mean starting treatment. For differences in approach by age, see our at what age can you get clear aligners page.
How do you get to the clinic from Keçiören?
If you are coming by car, simply entering 'Park Oran Ofis' into your navigation app is enough; travel time varies considerably with traffic in the city center. Public transportation requires a transfer; use the EGO Cep'te app for up-to-date route and transfer information. If you are coming with an older relative, you can ask about stairs and walking distance when booking. Midday and early weekday evenings are when traffic is most variable; if possible, leave with some extra time for your appointment.
How are aligners worn during Ramadan and around daily prayer routines?
For patients who fast, wearing the aligner 20–22 hours a day often becomes easier, because there are no meals during the day. The aligner is removed for suhoor and iftar, and after eating the teeth are brushed and the aligner is put back in. Long meal and tea times from iftar to suhoor, however, can reduce wear time. For a detailed routine, see our clear aligners during Ramadan page.
What should you do if an aligner is lost or broken?
You will usually be asked to go back to the previous aligner and contact the clinic the same day; in some cases, the orthodontist may recommend moving on to the next aligner. You can reach us at 0312 911 60 36 or via WhatsApp. The clinic uses the Invisalign system, and treatment is planned by Funda Pekyılmaz Sarıkaya, specialist orthodontist (Uzm. Dt.); suitability, duration and fees are shared in writing after the examination and planning.
