How many times do you need to come from Etimesgut and Eryaman for clear aligner treatment?
The exact number depends on the case, but the structure is clear. First come the initial checkup and digital scan, followed by an appointment for aligner delivery and attachments (small bumps bonded to the teeth). After that, during the active phase of treatment, checkups are usually every 6–10 weeks. Because aligners are changed at home on the days set by the orthodontist (usually every 7–14 days), you do not need to come to the clinic for each aligner. In suitable cases, several aligners can be given at one checkup; the orthodontist makes this decision based on how closely the teeth are following the plan.
Fixed braces require more frequent, regular visits for wire adjustments, whereas this burden is lighter with clear aligners. This is one of the reasons patients from western Ankara prefer clear aligners; still, the main factor that determines the method is not distance but the condition of the teeth and jaws.
How can a checkup fit into your commute?
Many people living in Etimesgut and Eryaman travel every day along Eskişehir Yolu to the city center, Söğütözü, Çukurambar or the ministries district. Our clinic is in Çankaya Oran, at Park Oran Ofis on Kudüs Caddesi (next to Panora Mall, across from One Tower Mall). A practical routine can look like this:
- On the way home in the evening: After work, head toward Oran via Eskişehir Yolu, have your checkup, then go home. The clinic is open until 20:00.
- Early morning: A short checkup before starting work is convenient, especially for those with flexible hours.
- Saturday: The most comfortable day for longer appointments such as the first checkup and scan.
Westbound traffic can be heavy in the evening; since travel time varies from day to day, we recommend leaving a little early for your appointment. Simply entering 'Park Oran Ofis' into your navigation app is enough. If you are coming by public transportation, check the EGO Cep'te app for up-to-date information on commuter rail and bus connections.
Does digital monitoring reduce the number of visits?
At the clinic, digital scanning is done with iTero and treatment is planned in 3D in the ClinCheck software. This means no extra appointment is needed for impressions, and the plan is shown to you from day one. If a problem arises between checkups, for example if an aligner does not fit fully, you can get an initial opinion by sending a photo via WhatsApp. However, a photo does not replace an examination; how well the teeth follow the plan, the condition of the attachments and gum health are assessed at the clinic. Details on the tools we use can be found on our technology page.
What should a patient who lives far away keep track of at home?
Coming to the clinic less often means home monitoring needs to be more careful. Between checkups, pay attention to the following:
- Aligner fit: A new aligner should sit fully on the teeth, with no noticeable gaps at the edges. If it does not fit, write to us before moving on to the next aligner.
- Attachment coming off: If one of the small bumps on a tooth falls off, the aligner may fit more loosely; report this without waiting for the next checkup.
- Change schedule: Note which day you switched to which aligner; this information is useful at the checkup. The suggestions on our aligner change schedule page are practical for this.
- Wear time: On long travel days, when the gap between meals stretches, wear time can drop without you noticing; the goal of 20–22 hours a day still applies.
If an aligner is lost or broken, do you need to come in right away?
Not always. In most cases you will be asked to go back to the previous aligner and let us know the same day at 0312 911 60 36 or via WhatsApp. Depending on the stage of treatment, the orthodontist may also recommend moving on to the next aligner. If a new aligner needs to be made, an appointment is scheduled for delivery. If you are coming from western Ankara, this is why it is especially important to always keep the previous aligner in a clean case. For other situations, see our clear aligner problems page.
How can young people and students in Eryaman set up a routine?
Many young people of high school and university age live in Eryaman and Elvankent. For this age group, scheduling checkups outside exam periods, on Saturdays or after school helps avoid missing classes. In teenagers, aligner wear time should also be monitored by a parent; the wear indicators on Invisalign Teen aligners can give an idea about this. Details are explained on our Invisalign for teens page.
Do you still need to come to the clinic after treatment ends?
Yes, but much less often. When active treatment ends, a retainer is given to maintain the new position of the teeth, and it is usually worn at night for a long time, for life in most patients. During the retention phase, checkups take place months apart; for patients coming from western Ankara, this is the phase in which visits are easiest to plan. If a retainer cracks or is lost, a short appointment is enough to have a new one made. The topic is explained in detail on our retainer after clear aligners page.
Does distance affect treatment time?
No. Treatment time is determined not by distance but by how much the teeth need to move, the jaw relationship and whether the aligners are worn consistently. The clinic uses the Invisalign system, and treatment is planned by Funda Pekyılmaz Sarıkaya, specialist orthodontist (Uzm. Dt.). The estimated duration is shared with you after the checkup and digital planning; for a general framework, see our how long does clear aligner treatment take page.
