Short answer: no, not exactly the same
"Clear aligners" is the general name for treatment that moves the teeth step by step with removable, transparent trays. Invisalign is the brand name of one system in this category. In other words, every Invisalign is a clear aligner, but not every clear aligner is Invisalign.
Think of the relationship between a shoe and a shoe brand. The brand makes shoes, but saying "shoe" does not mean that brand. The situation here is the same.
Why do the two get mixed up in everyday speech?
There are two reasons. First, Invisalign is a very well-known name in this field. When people say clear aligners, they often mean it. Second, from the outside the trays look alike: a thin, transparent mold that fits over the teeth. The differences, however, are not in the tray itself but in the system behind it.
What can change from one system to another?
Systems in the same category can differ in four areas. They are listed here not to compare brands but to give you a list of questions.
Planning software
The order in which the teeth will move and by how much is planned with software. In the Invisalign system, this planning is done with software called ClinCheck and is approved by the dentist. Every system has its own software and its own movement logic. It is important to ask whether the dentist shows you the plan.
Aligner material
Aligners are made from a particular plastic material. The flexibility of the material, how the force on the teeth is distributed and how comfortably the tray fits can differ from system to system. Invisalign aligners are made from a special material called SmartTrack. This information is not a claim of superiority, just an example of what can be different.
Intraoral scanning
Aligners require measurements of your teeth. These can be taken with traditional impression material or with a digital scanner. The scanner used on the Invisalign side is iTero. The scan result is transferred directly to the planning software.
Dentist supervision
This is the most critical difference. Whichever system is used, the orthodontist manages the treatment. The aligner is only a tool. The dentist's examination, records, approval of the plan and check-ups are the real backbone of the treatment.

What you should ask yourself when choosing
How the treatment will be carried out matters as much as the name of the system. You can ask your dentist the following:
- Will I be able to see the plan on screen?
- Which diagnostic records will be taken?
- How often will the check-ups be?
- What will I do if an aligner is lost or broken?
- How will retention work when treatment ends?
For the end of treatment, you can also look at our page on retainers after clear aligners.
Is the difference noticeable in daily use?
Putting in, taking out, cleaning and eating routines stay almost the same. You take the aligners out before eating, and after eating you brush your teeth and put them back in. You keep them in for most of the day. The differences you may notice are small things such as how the aligner seats, how its edges touch the gums and the feeling of pressure in the first days. These also vary from person to person. If you are curious about the first week, the page on the first week with clear aligners will guide you.
Does the brand name determine the treatment result?
No. What really affects the result is the difficulty of the case, how well you follow the plan, how many hours a day you wear the aligners and your dentist's check-ups. Two people using the same system can have different courses. So instead of using a name alone as a yardstick, it is more accurate to look at how the dentist evaluates you. It is also not right to promise a definite duration or result for any system.
What to watch for in advertising language
A great many product names circulate in this field. Presenting one as superior to another is not the job of this page. But pay attention to one sentence: there is no system that is described as suitable for everyone. Every product has cases it suits and limits it has.
Which one in which case?
Clear aligners are not suitable for every dental problem. In mild and moderate crowding, gaps and some bite problems, many people get good results. In more complex cases, an auxiliary appliance or braces may be needed. On suitability, the page on who clear aligners are for gives an idea, but the decision is made at the examination.

How do we do it at the clinic?
At our clinic in Oran, clear aligner treatment is carried out with the Invisalign system. The examination is done by Funda Pekyılmaz Sarıkaya, specialist orthodontist (Uzm. Dt.). At the first consultation your teeth and jaw structure are evaluated and the plan is explained to you. Our opening hours are Monday–Saturday 09:00–19:30, and we are closed on Sundays. This information is general; the treatment that suits you is decided after an examination.
If you would like to read about the technical side of the system in more detail, meaning scanning, planning and aligner production, you can look at the page explaining what sets Invisalign apart.
